MENTOR COACHING

Deepening the coach you are becoming

Mentor coaching offers a reflective space in which to examine your coaching with care and curiosity—to recognize what is already present, explore what may be limiting the partnership, and deepen your capacity to respond with greater awareness and choice.

Whether you are preparing for an ACC or PCC credential, renewing an ACC credential, or investing in your continued development as a professional coach, our work brings together reflection, observation of coaching, and competency-based feedback while remaining attentive to the coach you are becoming.

Mentor coaching is more than a requirement

The ICF Core Competencies provide an important shared standard for professional coaching. Yet mentor coaching is not simply about demonstrating particular behaviours or preparing a recording for assessment.

It is an opportunity to slow down and become more aware of what is happening within a coaching conversation—where partnership deepens, where habits or assumptions may enter, what the client may be inviting, and how your presence shapes what becomes possible.

The aim is to strengthen your capacity to make more conscious choices while developing an approach to coaching that is authentically yours and aligned with professional standards.

Mentor coaching for where you are now

Coaches seek mentor coaching at different points in their development and for different reasons.

Preparing for an ACC or PCC credential

Whether mentor coaching is required within your application pathway or sought as additional preparation, our work focuses on the coaching you are actually doing and the competencies expected at the ACC or PCC level.

Renewing an ACC credential

For ACC coaches completing mentor coaching as part of credential renewal, the engagement is structured to support applicable ICF requirements while creating space for meaningful reflection and continued growth.

Continuing your development

For credentialed coaches seeking continued development beyond formal requirements, mentor coaching offers a place to revisit recorded coaching conversations, notice recurring patterns, and explore new edges in how you coach—without the pressure of an application deadline.

Individual and group mentor coaching

The right format depends on what you are seeking, how you learn best, and where you are in your development.

One-to-one mentor coaching offers focused attention to how you coach.

Together, we can listen closely to recorded sessions, explore particular questions or developmental edges, and work at a pace responsive to your experience, goals, and credentialing pathway.

Individual mentor coaching

Group mentor coaching

Small-group mentor coaching creates an opportunity to learn through both your own coaching and the coaching of others. Hearing different approaches, noticing what resonates, and reflecting together can broaden your awareness of what becomes possible within a coaching conversation.

Group programs include individual sessions where required or appropriate, allowing space for both shared learning and focused feedback.

What we attend to together

Mentor coaching begins with the coaching that is actually taking place.

Recorded sessions give us something real to listen to, reflect upon, and learn from.

Listening to the coaching itself

Recognizing strengths and developmental edges

We attend closely to how the conversation is unfolding—what is being heard, what may be missed, how the partnership is being shaped, and what the client may be inviting.

Competency-based feedback helps you recognize what is already serving the coaching relationship and where greater awareness, range, or practice may deepen your work.

Noticing patterns and presence

Deepening voice and choice

We explore recurring habits, assumptions, moments of hesitation, and the places where your presence expands or constricts what becomes possible in the conversation.

We explore how your instincts, presence, and choices come together within the conversation—supporting a way of coaching that is increasingly intentional and authentically your own.

Experience and preparation for the work

Mentor coaching calls for more than familiarity with the ICF Core Competencies. It requires the ability to listen closely to coaching, offer clear and developmentally appropriate feedback, and support growth without losing sight of the person whose practice is being examined.

I am an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with more than 2,500 hours of coaching experience. I also hold the ICF Mentor Coach Specialization at both the ACC (MCSACC) and PCC (MCSPCC) levels, reflecting specialized preparation in coaching observation, competency-based feedback, and coach development at each credential level.

My work is further informed by years of mentor coaching, coach education, facilitation, and continued study of coaching practice.

Considering mentor coaching?

Whether you are seeking individual mentor coaching or interested in joining a future group, I would be glad to begin with a conversation about where you are in your development and what kind of support would be most useful.

New group cohorts are formed as interest develops. Individuals are welcome to express interest in joining a future cohort. Groups of four or more are welcome to inquire about arranging a dedicated cohort.
